Children and families

I started my business photographing primarily children and their families fifteen years ago, and it's still near and dear to me. As I have for years, I will come to you and photograph your family in the place they feel most comfortable--your home, or another location that is special to you. You don't have to live in a castle; there is beauty in the everyday, and my job is to capture perfectly the lovely reality of your life. Years from now, the imperfections you worry about will become the stuff authentic memories are made of. Messy toddler hair, footie pyjamas, funny faces, missing teeth, "that phase" will all become moments you are so glad you preserved. There is beauty in the everyday that just can't be recreated in a studio.

B&W Magazine (London) once called my work "the anti-cute approach to photographing children." I love that. My approach is respectful and authentic, and my philosophy is that the session should be its own reward. Which explains why very often, kids cry at the end of the shoot when I tell them I have to go home. It's a wonderful compliment.

Sessions start at $350 in the Denver Metro area, and I'm selectively available for bookings worldwide.

Women and boudoir

I absolutely love photographing women! Whether we do your session at your home, in a studio or hotel, or other location, you're going to have the time of your life. I promise those nerves you may be feeling will fade as soon as we get started. I can arrange for one of my favorite makeup artists and stylists to help you look and feel like a million bucks, and you'll wonder why you didn't do this sooner?

There is so much manipulation in photographs these days, that it has become hard to distinguish fact from fiction. In short, I do not digitally alter my clients, because they don't need to be "fixed." I use careful lighting and posing, along with smart and classy wardrobe choices and locations, to make every women look her very best. You, fellow female, are more beautiful than you think you are, and I'd love to show you! It's not about having the perfect body, or looking like a Victoria's Secret model. It's about tapping into what makes you glow from the inside, and translating your unique beauty into an image that you adore. I work with women of all ages, and I firmly believe every woman should have this experience. It's liberating and transformative.

Other work

In addition to children, families, and boudoir, I take on all sorts of projects. I've shot fashion, editorial, equine, headshots, the occasional event, fine art, performers and entertainers, crazy commissioned work, non-profit work. As long as my style suits your needs, I would love to talk about the possibilities. Nothing is too traditional or too "out there" for me. I've photographed elegant models in designer gowns, and teenagers having a mud fight in a corn field. If it's fun and challenging, I'm there.

Of course, I also have many personal projects that tend to turn into solo gallery shows. Most of my work is available for sale, online and at my shows. Please do contact me if you're interesting in purchasing prints or licensing them for commercial use.

Teaching and Mentoring

I adore teaching. I currently offer online workshops, Skype-based critique and mentoring sessions, the occasional in-person workshop both stateside and worldwide, project mentoring, and speaking engagements. Please email me for more information.

My work and writings have been featured in numerous publications, including Black & White Magazine (UK) and Kodak's ProPass Magazine, Adore Noir Magazine, and Colorado Homes and Lifestyles. My photographs have been shown in many group and solo shows worldwide, including the Elevator Gallery, Toronto, Canada and The Photographer's Gallery, Denver, CO.
